Proteinuria indicates an increased levels of protein in the urine. Albuminuria occurs when a specific protein called albumin is found in the urine, and this most commonly indicates kidney disease.
Proteins should normally remain in the blood, and generally-speaking, protein such as albumin should not be able to enter the urine in detectable amounts. If albumin and/or other proteins leave the blood and enter the urine when passing through the kidneys, this indicates that the kidney filtration system or resorption system of the glomeruli or tubules is damaged; this indicates the possibility of kidney disease.
A dipstick test of a urine sample can help diagnose proteinuria and albuminuria.
Dr. Nirav Parikh, MD will work with you to determine the best course of action for diagnosing, managing, and treating proteinuria and albuminuria.
Your treatment plan is designed for steady progress, with every phase promptly and appropriately implemented.
